Recording Studio Cable Management Guide
For professional-level recording studios, cable management is both a functional necessity and part of maintaining a high-performance environment.
While studio owners and Engineers all have their preferences, there’s one go-to product that most high-end studios use to manage cables: hook-and-loop cable ties.
Hook & Loop Studio Cable Management
Hook and loop straps and tie wraps are extremely popular in professional studio cable management because they combine practicality, protection, and reusability.
All essential traits for a high-end environment where cables are expensive, signal integrity is crucial, and setups change frequently.
5 Reasons Why You Need Cord-Lox® in Your Recording Studio
1. Non-Damaging
- Velcro straps don’t overtighten or cut into cable jackets like zip ties can.
- Critical in studios where shielded audio, word clock, and fiber cables can be sensitive to stress.
2. Reusable & Adjustable
- Velcro can be reapplied dozens or hundreds of times.
- Perfect for temporary setups, re-patching, or seasonal rearrangements.
3. Quick Access
- Cables can be added or removed from a bundle without cutting and replacing ties.
- Saves time during installations or emergency fixes.
4. Cable Identification
5. Clean, Professional Look
- Maintains tidy bundles behind racks, under desks, and in ceiling trays.
- Prevents “cable spaghetti” that affects cooling, access, and safety.
Cord-Lox®: The Professional’s Choice For Studio Cable Management

Our Rivet Strap, Closed Loop, Open Loop, Y Series Strap, and Coil’n’Carry Strap all deliver high-quality cable control, whether you’re managing cables in the studio or a stage tech organizing cables for a live event.
TFI Custom Fabrication also offers custom printing options for your cable ties, tapes, and fasteners with your company name, logo, or contact information.
Rivet Straps: stay attached to patch cords and XLR cables
The Cord-Lox® Rivet Series Straps are versatile hook-and-loop straps designed to manage your cables and cords.
To prevent your strap from detaching or getting lost, simply wrap the end of the hook and loop Rivet Strap around your cord or cable to get started.
Using the included rivet, snap the two pieces together to attach the fastener to your cable or cord permanently.
Open Loop Series Straps: great for cables that have larger plug ends
The design of the Open Loop Series features an overlapping center section that is only sealed on one side.
This allows the strap to be used on cables that have extra large plugs, such as audio “snakes” or SOCO cables.
They have also become popular for attaching cables to mic stands.
Simply open the top section of material and then wrap that around the mic pole. Then use the remaining ‘wings’ to attach a cable running along the pole or stand like an XLR for a microphone.
Closed Loop Series: simple to use and popular with patch cords
The Closed Loop Series design features a pre-made opening.
Simply insert one end of the cable through the opening, pressing down on either side, and now the fastener will stay attached to the cable at all times.
Y Series Strap: the easiest to use of the Cord-Lox product family
Featuring an ‘alligator-style mouth’ at one end of the strap, you can attach the strap to a cable leaving the remaining length free to bundle, organize or identify the cable. The Cord-Lox® Y Series strap provides easy wrap cord management with no excess overlap. Simply place your cord or cable between the hook and loop sections that make up the “Y” end. The remaining length is now available to bundle your cords, cables, or hoses.
Coil-N-Carry: hold a bundle of cables on the back of a patch bay or rack
The Coil’n’Carry® is an all-in-one bundling, carrying, and storage solution designed for pro lighting and sound technicians but is now used in many different applications and across several industries.
The Coil-N-Carry is also ideal for bundling and storing all the cables by group. Then they can be pegged for storage and then easily brought into the studio for a quick setup.
